Faux Pas

Uniform is the distinctive clothing worn by members of the same organization. It represents that you have to always have the same form, manner, or degree. While uniforms are great to show the unity and pride, uniforms limit personal expression. When one wears a uniform loses self identity and the right to express herself through fashion. My collection is about the feeling of being trapped by wearing a uniform. It connects back to my experience going into a high-end designer brand store, Burberry. Burberry had luxurious envelopes for receipts, and high quality price tags that were designed to show their class and luxury. I wanted to combine these three aspects, uniform, tag and receipt to show the trapped feeling when one is limited personal expression. I used a tag shape throughout my collections and broke down the garments that could have been a simple two piece suit.
